Russell Yoshida, Registered Massage Therapist

Russell Yoshida has been a Registered Massage Therapist for over 25 years, beginning his massage therapy career in 1997. Driven by a curiosity about why some treatment results last while others fade, he went on to complete five years of study in Traditional Chinese Medicine in Victoria, BC, gaining a detailed understanding of the body’s meridian and acupressure systems.

From this combined training, Russell developed his own integrative treatment approach — one that pairs hands-on work along acupressure points with guided movement during the session. Where conventional massage focuses on the muscles themselves, Russell’s approach also addresses the patterns of tension the body holds around them. Patients perform simple movements on the table while Russell works specific points, helping restore circulation and ease through areas of long-held restriction. Many patients find this produces a deeper and longer-lasting release than they’ve experienced with traditional massage, and some describe noticing emotional as well as physical tension letting go.

Russell practices with Equilibrium Therapeutics as a locum therapist, providing coverage at our Victoria clinics when he is in town. Because his availability is limited, we encourage patients who connect with his approach to book ahead when his schedule opens.
Is Russell’s approach right for you?

Russell’s style is an active, therapeutic technique — not a traditional Swedish or relaxation massage. If you’re looking for a classic massage experience, we recommend booking with one of our other Registered Massage Therapists.

While this technique can be highly effective, some patients experience temporary discomfort, soreness, or mild bruising during the first one to three sessions as long-held tension releases. This is a normal response for some individuals, and Russell always works within your comfort level and consent.
